š School speed limit changes
Variable 30km/h speed limits were introduced around 12 Hamilton schools from the start of Term 2 onāÆ28 April 2025, and they operateāÆduring school pick-up and drop-off times. Outside of these times, the speed limits are either 40km/h or 50km/h.⯠āÆ
These changes are in response to the Governmentās new speed limit rules which have impacted roads around schools nationally.āÆāÆ āÆ
New variable speed limit signs clearly state when the variable speed limit applies, and electronic signs were installed on busy roads or areas where it would be difficult for drivers to notice the signs.āÆ
